Recently when I have been out and about I am continually asked one question: "Why are you still campaigning? Aren't you now unopposed?"
Yes, Jim Marshall is no longer campaigning for sheriff because he has accepted the position of Marshall Police Chief. He will begin his new duties with the City of Marshall on December 1; I wish him well and look forward to collaborating with him. However, due to Minnesota election law, his name will still be on the ballot. On election day, a majority of voters will still need to cast a vote for me for me to be elected.
This turn of events has not changed my strategy. Until November 6, I will continue to knock on doors and have meaningful discussions with as many Lyon County residents as possible. I believe not only is it important for citizens to have the opportunity to meet me but also for me to meet community members and hear their concerns and priorities for the Sheriff's Office which will inform my work if elected.
